What will I Experience as a Patient
Complete Examination
A complete dental examination is done by our Dentist. This thorough examination includes periodontal probing, dental impressions, and photographs. You will review your dental and medical history with our Dentist. You can choose the shade of your replacement teeth.
Your Appointment for Implant Placement
When the day arrives to have your implants placed, we will ask you to come to our clinic in the early morning with a family member or friend to accompany you.
You will receive oral sedation, as previously discussed with the Dentist in the treatment planning phase. If any teeth need to be removed, they will be extracted by our dentist before your dental implants are placed. This part of the appointment will take almost all morning.
You will then relax for a few hours while our lab technicians put the finishing touches on your new teeth. Then the Restorative Dentist will fit your replacement teeth, adjust them if necessary, and once you are completely happy with your new smile they will be fixed to the implants.
After the Procedure
After you are taken home by your accompanying friend or family member, you may have discomfort that can be helped by over-the-counter medication for pain. There may be some swelling and bruising present. Most patients rest for a day or two before resuming their regularly scheduled activities.
